One of the largest international animation festivals takes place in Moscow every autumn. 69 programs and more than 450 movies have been presented at the festival this year.
At the festival, you can watch latest Russian and foreign cartoons - winners of the most prestigious international animation festivals. The program includes full-length and short cartoons, which are joined in blocks.
In my opinion, the most interesting part of the festival is "The Cartoon Factory" - an educational play area on the territory of the paper mill "October". At "The Cartoon Factory", young animators teach children, how to make cartoons in the most different techniques: painting by hand, free-flowing and even claymation. Besides the technological part of the process, children learn how to lip-synch cartoons and even write fairytales as scenarios for them.
At this year's festival, everybody could play with optical toys, which were turning to animated pictures. The famous Itallian animator, Raffaella Traniello, created with children cartoons in the stop-motion technique. The characters of these cartoons were made from simple macaroni foods - Itallian pasta!
Also, young animators had an opportunity to create cartoons not only from paper, but also from sand, glass, fabric and plasticine.
