Bicycle season kicks off at Luzhniki

City residents will be able to repair their bikes at a service centre, have them tested to ensure they meet maintenance standards, borrow a bike for free or learn how to ride one.

The bicycle season has officially begun at Luzhniki. Visitors can borrow bikes and ride along the renovated Luzhnetskaya Embankment.

“We’ve decided to offer Muscovites several projects that are likely to attract them this season and perfectly fit the renovated Luzhniki concept and help us, among other things, deliver on our task which is to create the city’s major cluster of facilities for all people with an active life style,” the Luzhniki press service said.

Bikes can be borrowed for free until 1 June at two hire stations – one is located next to the Vorobyovy Gory metro station and the other at 24 Luzhniki Street, Building 16 – on weekdays from 11 am until 4 pm, except for 1, 8 and 9 May.

Prior registration is required if you want to take out a free bike to ride for an hour during three days of your choice. You will have to pay for any extra hours at hire rates.

Also, Muscovites will be able to test or repair their bikes at a maintenance centre, during which time they will be able to take a replacement bike.

Those who want to learn how to ride a bicycle can attend free lessons next to the Vorobyovy Gory metro station. The 45-minute lessons will have to be booked in advance and will be given to groups of at least four people.
