Monument to M.I. Kutuzov

The monument to M.I. Kutuzov (sculptors – N.V. Tomsky, A.I. Beldyushkin, B.E. Edunov, A.A. Murzin, A.N. Tomsky, architect – L.G. Golubovsky) was unveiled in1973 inKutuzovsky Prospekt near panorama museum "The Battle of Borodino". Mikhail Illarionovich is presented ahorse in a dress coat with all regalia of generalship: the character of this man – old, stout, covered with wounds person – is idealized in official and ceremonial manner. The main thing in the nature of great commander – is his wisdom and belief in inexhaustible energy of his people, calm dignity of a standout. There is a composition with numerous figures around pedestal of rectangular shape. This composition symbolically represents the heroism of Russian troops, patriotic upsurge of the people in Patriotic War of 1812. Each figure in monumental group represents image of certain historical person. These figures have features of portrait similarity with the heroes of the year of 1812.
