Moscow received the international tourism award “Golden Apple”

"Last year (in the capital) had a record number of tourists — 16.5 million tourists, this year will not be worse than last year", — said the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, receiving the award from the President of the International Federation of journalists FIJET Tijani Haddad.

Sobyanin noted that in recent years Moscow has adopted a major program for restoration of cultural historical objects — we restored more than 600. In addition, the city has consistently engaged in landscaping parks, streets, squares, improved safety of citizens, due to the installation of about 140 thousand cameras. In addition, the hotel Fund has increased by nearly 30 percent.

In 1982, the Golden Apple was awarded to the city of Suzdal. The second award winner this year was the Summer festival in Dubrovnik.

The international Federation of journalists writing about tourism (FIJET) has established the prize "Golden Apple" in 1970 and since then it is annually awarded by the organization, country, city, showing object or person for outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of tourism. At present it unites about 800 journalists and writers from 30 countries.
