Scandinavian Games and Young Captains School: Fish Week activities

Fish Week concludes Moscow’s Golden Autumn festival, offering a taste of around 60 original fish dishes, a gala concert and useful workshops.

Young would-be concert performers can attend an audition at the Business Lunch venue in Novopushkinsky Square at 7 pm on 8 October. Kids will be asked to perform a song, dance or a scene, while the concert will take place the following day at the same hour. A theatre performance, A Sportsman’s Sketches, will be held at the venue from 3 pm to 5 pm.

A Young Captains School at Manezhnaya Square’s Volgograd Port venue will host a Flag Alphabet class to teach kids maritime flag signalling as well as the naval signalling code that uses 59 flags of different colours. Workshops at the Arkhangelsk Port venue in Nikolskaya Street promises to tell its young audience a lot about the sea, ships and ocean mysteries, and teach them to tie naval knots.

The Sakhalin Port venue in Ploshchad Revolyutsii Square (Revolution Square) offers a visit to the Fishing Village games and competition area. Visitors can join forces in the old Scandinavian game of Catch the Salmon or enjoy the Deft Skipper game played by medieval sailors and fishermen.

The St Petersburg Port venue in Kamergersky Pereulok hosts a cooking school for kids. Chefs will share recipes of ukha (a fish soup), fish-shaped cookies and the Leningradsky cake.

Moscow chefs and cooking show participants make at least four original fish dishes a day at the Tasty Weekday venue in Kuznetsky Most Street outside TsUM, or the Central Universal Department Store.
