Over 500 greeting cards to decorate Moscow for International Women’s Day

Over 500 cards with bright bouquets and greetings to women will decorate city streets for International Women’s Day (8 March). They will be placed at public transport stops and newsstands, in shop windows and also on traditional and digital billboards along Prospekt Mira and Leningradskoye, Varshavskoye, Kashirskoye and Zvenigorodskoye motorways. Greeting posters will also be displayed on city pillars.

“Decorating Moscow for International Women’s Day will start this weekend. Greeting cards and posters with poppies and rose bouquets against an orange or pink background will go up along the streets. Each will say ‘Happy 8 March!’  Street greeting cards for International Women’s Day have become a good tradition. They get a new design every year, but kind words and wishes to women remain unchanged,” a representative of the Department for Media and Advertising said.

Festive video clips with changing floral arrangements will be displayed on 8 and 28 Novy Arbat Street, and also on the façade of the Central Telegraph building in Tverskaya Street. Video clips will be turned on in the evening of 7 March.

International Women’s Day, celebrated on 8 March, became a public holiday in Russia in 1966. This holiday is also popular in Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Cambodia and other countries.
