VDNKh joins international postcard exchange project

“Visitors can choose from 10 different postcards with historical and modern views of the main sights, including the main entrance, the Green Theatre, the central pavilion, the Golden Ears of Wheat and Stone Flower fountains and more,” the VDNKh press service said.

The postcards, along with decorative envelopes with the VDNKh logo are on sale at the information centre, and stamps can be purchased at the nearby historical postal centre, located in the main entrance’s right wing. A new post box has been installed in front of the information centre. The VDNKh souvenir shop opposite also sells illustrated postcards depicting different scenes, such as a romantic evening on the ice rink, performances at VDNKh summer venues, exhibitions in the pavilions, sports in the open air, and more.

Postcrossing involves people exchanging postcards with other random postcrossers around the world. The project has its own site. Users register and can then send postcards to people and receive them from others. Postcrossing fans have many social network groups as well.

The project began in 2005, following on the success of book-crossing, which involves the exchange of books among random people. The postcrossing project has people taking part in 248 countries now. The project’s influence is such that even people not taking part have started to send paper travel postcards to friends and family.
