Calvary Protestant Church

In Bibirevo district in Altufievsky highway there is a Protestant church "Calvary". The building is so majestic and beautiful that you can’t tear your glance from it. This temple belongs to the Evangelical Christians- Baptists church "Calvary". The church is named after the hill on which Jesus Christ was crucified. In Moscow you can also find a church "Bethany" – it is the name of the town where Lazarus lived, whose resurrection is described in the Gospel of John.

As a rule Baptists give names to their churches according to the Biblical locations whereas Orthodox, Catholics, Lutherans and Anglicans give names of the saints or names of the church fetes to their temples.

Let’s say a little about the difference between Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants and Protestants. Protestants value most of all the authority of Bible and the right of every person to understand it without any mediation of a special caste of priests. Orthodox and Catholics value their traditions above the authority of the Bible and claim that only the leaders of these churches can interpret the Bible correctly.
