The monument to the popular heroes of Conan Doyle' stories by Andrey Orlov takes place in front of the British Embassy on the Smolenskaya embankment in Moscow. It is the only sculpture in the world where Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson appear before the public together. Conan Doyle's detective stories have been very popular in Russia. Everybody still remembers the Soviet Sherlock Holmes film series directed by Igor Maslennikov, and the heroes have long become the embodiment of Britain in the eyes of the Russian people. The figures of the monument are made in a real size.
