Old mansions to open for the public during Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage

For the first time, there will be tours of the Old Church built in the years 1591-1593, and also the chambers of Boyar Duma member Averky Kirillov on the Bersenevskaya Embankment.

The tours were included in the programme following a vote on the Active Citizen web portal.

The Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage will be held in Moscow on 18 April, on International Day for Monuments and Sites, and on 18 May, on International Museum Day.

“Traditionally, the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage together with the Russian National Society for Preservation of Historical and Cultural Monuments has prepared a programme of events giving people in Moscow the unique opportunity to visit old mansions, estates and other architectural landmarks that usually are closed for the general public,” said the department head Alexei Yemelyanov.

Over 100 events will take place between 12 April - 31 May. Everyone is invited to take part in guided tours, quests and lectures, visit at least 50 architectural and cultural landmarks, among them representative offices of Russian regions, institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, public and private organisations, and hotels. Open will be the Tarasov House at 30/1 Spiridonovka Street; the Morozov Moscow estate at 21/1 Podsosensky Pereulok; the Zimin mansion at 8/3 Degtyarny Pereulok; Yekaterina Vasilchikova and Nadezhda von Meck’s estate at 14/1 Gogolevsky Boulevard, and other  places.

For the first time, guided tours will be held at the Old Church built  between 1591-1593 on 1/19 Donskaya Square and the estate of Boyar Duma member Averky Kirillov at 20 Bersenevskaya Embankment. These two sites were included in the programme following a vote on the Active Citizen portal.

Tours will also be held at historical mansions occupied by foreign embassies. Architectural college and university students will visit sites awarded with the Moscow Renovation prize and architectural landmarks which have been renovated or are under renovation.

The festival will bring together about 3,500 people. Registration is required for all events. For more information, please address the official website of the project or call 8 926 229 3680.
