Monument to Shalyapin

The author of the monument is Vadim Tserkovnikov. According to the author’s conception the monument should depict the singer reclining, leaning against a huge tree torn out of the ground.
The pose is the same as in the famous painting by Ilya Repin, the portrait unfortunately was lost. The lying tree symbolizes eternal peace and eternal memory as they are depicted in Polish tombstones. The torn out roots show that despite the emigration the great singer never left Russia in his heart. The height of the monument with the pedestal is 2.5 meters.
