The former profit house of M. V. Sokol in Kuznetsky Most Street is one of the most interesting buildings of the modern style in Moscow. It was built in 1904 by the architect I. Mashkov for a moscow landlady M. V. Sokol. The building is located on the elevation and is noticeable from different places in the center of the city. The main element of the design is the majolica panels with the seascape and a soaring falcon above the mountains, created by the artist N. N. Sapunov. As additional decorative elements of the facade, Mashkov used raised tiles in the form of a fish, designed by the great Russian artist M. Vrubel.
