The Museum of Chocolate and Cacao History is located on the territory of the two famous candy factories in Moscow: "Babayevskiy Open Joint-Stock Company" and "Moscow Confectionery Factory Red October". At the museum you will know that ancient Mayans were the first who realized the value of cacao beans and began to use them in cooking. You will see cacao beans, a cacao-tree, a seller of sweets from the beginning of the 20th century and some unique art works by modern confectioners.
At the museum you will know about the whole history of chocolate and cacao. For example, the museum guides will tell you about ships, which the Spanish used to bring cacao from America to Europe; how a small candy shop of the Abrikosovs family became a huge Babayevskiy Open Joint-Stock Company; and that the founder of Red October factory is Teodore Ferdinand von Einem, who came from Germany to Moscow in hope to start his own business in 1850.
After the excursion at the museum, you will be taken to the confectionery manufacturing department, where you will see confectioner shops, conveyors with chocolate and candies, and then you'll be offered to taste the production. It is not allowed to take photos there, only at the museum.
