Marching bands fest comes to Muzeon

On the 9th of May the International Festival of Marching Bands will be held in the Muzeon Park of Arts. Six bands (four from Moscow and two foreign ones) will perform on each day of the festival.

The orchestras will strike up on the stage, as well as play, marching in the park together with guests of the festival, and participate in battles of the bands.

"The orchestras won't just replace each other onstage, as is the case at music festivals, but march on paths, meeting each other, you and your children," said Varvara Turova, co-owner of club Masterskaya which is co-sponsoring the festival

Don't expect military style marches as most contemporary brass bands play a wide range of music styles from funk to hip hop.

The festival will also feature a small market, a children's playground, jugglers, acrobats and master classes for children in how to play brass instruments.
